Thank you Lorena and Ian.
The accommodation was splendid; the location ideal; great hosts.
We came to West Withy with Dark Skies and star gazing in mind. However, we did appreciate the weather was likely to be against us and it was 😥. As an alternative we decided to tour the area. We criss-crossed Exmoor; visited Porlock, Minehead, Watchet.... absolutely brilliant.
All in all we had a thoroughly enjoyable time and there will be more 'dark sky' breaks 👍.

It has taken us a very long time to review West Withy Farm and particularly Lorena and Ian, due to our moving and house purchasing. We visited the farm back in February for two weeks. Unfortunately we visited during the big storms. However, despite not having any heat or power for 6 days, we were moved to the smaller cottage, along with our dog and cat. Ian and Lorena were the most fabulous hosts, supplying us with hot water, warmth and delicious food due to lack of supply by the authorities. The site is just beautiful with gardens and lake. The resident dog "Rufus" is the best ever, he and my bmd Baloo played together wonderfully. We loved our stay, despite the challenges of natural storms and location. Our hosts were just superb and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts 💕

We (four of us) had a lovely two weeks in Upton Cottage in September 2021. It is homely cottage with everything we needed plus some nice fresh local produce. Ian was very accommodating and even provided a cable so we could charge our electric car. The location is ideal for dark skies, we hired a telescope and, despite some cloudy days got some spectacular views of planets and nebulae. Thoroughly recommended.

It was a wonderful stay and Ian is a great host. West withy farms have unobstructed views of the sky and we got to see Andromeda (see pictures) amongst other celestial objects, and spent quality time. Cottage was excellent with all amenities one could need and a very reliable wifi connection. Dunster castle, Valley of rocks, Lynmouth, Taunton, Minehead etc are all within an hour’s drive from the farm. Highly recommended and you’ll fall in love with Rufus.

What a gorgeous place to stay. When I was looking for a dog friendly place to stay I was only thinking of bringing our dog but then Ian said I could bring my horse and cat as well. So being able to ride my horse over Exmoor and bring the cat who hates being separated from me was such a bonus.
The cottage is very well equipped and loved the beautifully kept gardens with the pond at the bottom with geese and ducks and ducklings.
It is a wonderfully quiet location and a great place to stay to explore the local area which is stunning. I'll be back. Possibly with my horsy friends.

Stayed in Stable Cottage for a week in early July with my husband, my sister, and her boyfriend. The cottage was well-equipped and Ian was happy to help with anything else we needed. The farm was a great base from which to explore Exmoor each day, and despite pretty rainy weather we had a great time and even managed to get a night of stargazing at Wimbleball Lake in (amazing!).The accommodation and peaceful location are great value and better than anything we could find on AirBnb for the price.

Wonderful base to explore the natural beauty of Exmoor. Both holiday cottages are comfortable , very clean and homely. We stayed in the single story Stables Cottage last year and the two storey Upton Cottage this year. Both cottages have secure fenced gardens surrounded by the tranquil greater grounds. This is a wonderfully peaceful location and the owners do everything they can to ensure that guests feel welcome here.
Thoughtful touches such as a jug of milk,a freshly baked loaf, a pat of butter, pot of jam and half a dozen new laid eggs make all the difference .
We will be back again next year!

Quiet, warm and clean with most appliances you need. Matresses need replacing otherwise it would be 5 stars.

Situated on the edge of Exmoor. Very friendly and helpful owners. Cottage was well equipped and comfortable. The grounds are nice around the lake and the gardens attached to the cottages are good for relaxing in (plenty of seating).
As is true for most areas on Exmoor you should know that mobile phone service is non-existent, be prepared to travel to the nearby Ralegh's Cross Inn for a signal or make use of the wifi in the cottage for your messaging.
Its very dark at night. This is a great location with unobstructed clear views in almost all directions. When clouds are absent there is very low levels of light pollution which is great for astronomy or just gazing at the stars.
